Anderson Hall Renovation, West Chester University
West Chester, PA
Area: 80,000 sf
Construction Budget $8 million
Project Description: This renovation project involved extensive interior renovations to an existing 1938 academic building, which includes classrooms, laboratory space, faculty offices, IT help desk, conference rooms, lounges, and other support spaces. Improvements include the installation of modernized infrastructure, expanded technology capabilities, accessibility features, energy efficient lighting, and new finishes throughout all spaces.
As BHA’s Project Architect, I lead the coordination, design, and documentation of a large project team. We were able overcome the challenges that are present when in working within an existing building. The routing of new HVAC, plumbing, and cabling had to be carefully examined in order to work with existing structure, building code, and accommodate changes in floor plan configuration. The design and construction process culminated in a finished building that was able to adapt to today’s needs and breathe new life into this historic University landmark.
